The Parenting with Cancer Pop-Up Writing Workshop

Parenting With Cancer: Personal Narrative, Prompt Style Writing Workshop (Free)

Tuesday, September 20, 1:30p PT / 4:30p ET (90 min)
Live (Zoom), 90-min Meet Up

The Parenting with Cancer Pop-Up Writing Workshop is dedicated to all those who have dealt with not only the trials of a breast cancer diagnosis but have done it while also wearing the “mom” hat. Neither job is easy — patient or care provider — and doing both at the same time can be overwhelming on a good day. So many decisions, so much to do when all you really want is to crawl under the covers.

Writing gives you the space to work through and make sense of what you are facing. Doing so in a group of others who understand can be life-changing. Join our September free workshop to write alongside other moms who get the daily struggles. It will give you a light to follow in a dark tunnel.

Expect Miracles Foundation & Sam Fund Grant

Spring 2022 Family Building Grant Application opens March 15!

Expect Miracles Foundation is incredibly excited to announce the return of our dedicated Samfund Family Building application for young adult cancer survivors pursuing parenthood. These grants provide support for processes including IUI, IVF, surrogacy/gestational carrier, and adoption. Maximum grant amounts are $4,000. All candidates (in addition to meeting the eligibility criteria below) should have obtained at least some of the necessary resources to proceed with their designated process; Samfund grants are intended to help move survivors on to the next level of their process. Candidates should also have a sense of the timeline of their process, and ideally it should be taking place within the next year. Those who do not have any sense of timing, or who are planning their process out more than a year, will not be funded.

In order to be eligible, applicants must be cancer survivors that are not financial dependents, between the ages of 21 and 39, live in the U.S., and either be:

a) finished with active treatment with no evidence of disease, or

b) one year past planned therapy with stable disease, or

c) In remission and on hormonal therapy (such as Tamoxifen), in remission and on long-term targeted molecular therapy (such as Gleevec or Herceptin), or in remission and on immunotherapy (new!)

The link to the Spring 2022 Family Building application will open and be available here two weeks from today on Tuesday, March 15. Also posted here are the Medical History Form and Affidavit (if you did not file taxes) so please start with those early!

Our Mission

"Brushes with Cancer provides psycho-social support to those touched by cancer to improve the quality of life for cancer patients, their family and loved ones, through a unique art experience."

Brushes with Cancer strategically matches artists with those touched by cancer to create unique pieces of artwork reflective of their journey. Over a period of 6 months, 35 selected pairs will connect in person, online, on the phone or by email. Their relationships are guided and supported by Twist Out Cancer mentors with the intention of creating a support system for both the artist and inspiration. The program finishes on a high note with our signature celebratory art exhibition and gala where the artwork is revealed for the fist time.

The Breasties - Camp Breastie At Home

as many of you know, the breasties is committed to making community accessible to all. we pride ourselves  on offering free events and retreats and offering tickets below the at-cost rate for camp breastie. with everything going on in the world, we are thinking of new ways to continue to support one another from afar.

we're so excited to be putting together camp breastie LIVE. to make this event possible, we are asking for the community to RSVP using a “give-what-you-can” model, ensuring anyone who wants to be a part of this movement, can be.

we understand all that this community has been through - and we truly believe that money should never play a role in accessibility to support. for some people, $50 is a lot to spend... for others, $5 is. our suggested donation is $25 based on what it costs to produce this event... but we’re counting on you to let us know what’s right for you. 100 percent of every donation will directly go to putting together this event and creating additional resources for the community. if you can afford to, please consider donating a little extra to help cover those who can’t. if you cannot add on a donation at this time; we will, as always, welcome you with open arms!
