Cactus Cancer Society and Bright Spot Network  collaboration, “Family Art Time”!

Join us for our first-ever parent and child art project, where we’ll be making a pair of elephant paper mosaics! You’ll be joining 15 other kids, and their young adult parent patient, survivor, and or caregiver (Cactus Cancer Society defines young adult as 18-45 years old) while we chat and work on some creative and meditative art together.

Together, with Bright Spot Network, we’ll be sending you all the supplies you need to participate. We’ll provide the stuff, you and your kiddo provide the conversation!

It’s all happening on Sunday, September 25th, for 90 minutes, at 8:00 am PT / 10:00 am CT / 11:00 am ET!**

We’ll send you everything you need to participate ahead of time!

Who: 15-20 children and young adult cancer patients, survivors, and caregiver patients.

When: Sunday, September 25th from 8:00-9:30am PT / 10:00-11:30am CT / 11:00am-12:30pm ET via Zoom.

The Parenting with Cancer Pop-Up Writing Workshop

Parenting With Cancer: Personal Narrative, Prompt Style Writing Workshop (Free)

Tuesday, September 20, 1:30p PT / 4:30p ET (90 min)
Live (Zoom), 90-min Meet Up

The Parenting with Cancer Pop-Up Writing Workshop is dedicated to all those who have dealt with not only the trials of a breast cancer diagnosis but have done it while also wearing the “mom” hat. Neither job is easy — patient or care provider — and doing both at the same time can be overwhelming on a good day. So many decisions, so much to do when all you really want is to crawl under the covers.

Writing gives you the space to work through and make sense of what you are facing. Doing so in a group of others who understand can be life-changing. Join our September free workshop to write alongside other moms who get the daily struggles. It will give you a light to follow in a dark tunnel.

Our Mission

"Brushes with Cancer provides psycho-social support to those touched by cancer to improve the quality of life for cancer patients, their family and loved ones, through a unique art experience."

Brushes with Cancer strategically matches artists with those touched by cancer to create unique pieces of artwork reflective of their journey. Over a period of 6 months, 35 selected pairs will connect in person, online, on the phone or by email. Their relationships are guided and supported by Twist Out Cancer mentors with the intention of creating a support system for both the artist and inspiration. The program finishes on a high note with our signature celebratory art exhibition and gala where the artwork is revealed for the fist time.

Breast in Show: a virtual burlesque show and breast cancer fundraiser

Join us for a virtual burlesque and variety telethon to support Recovery on Water and SurvivingBreastCancer.org!

It’s October, and you know what that means - it's time for a plethora of pink ribbons and vague promises of “a percentage of profits” going to some unspecified “research”. Are you looking to help those affected by breast cancer a little more directly? Join Ramona Mourir and Greta von Tapp, two burlesque dancers and breast cancer survivors, as they raise money to support two of their favorite nonprofits: Recovery on Water and SurvivingBreastCancer.org! Both organizations provide continuous support and community for breast cancer patients, survivors, thrivers, and caretakers.

After last year’s successful in-person performance raised over $2000, the goal was to produce another live show this year. Unfortunately due to COVID-19 that isn’t an option, but we’re moving everything online!

Check out our telethon on Saturday, October 24th, starting at 7pm Central/8pm Eastern!

Tickets are $10! You’ll receive a link to the show via email ONE HOUR before showtime!
