Sweet Treats
“There is a huge difference between something having the ability to reduce risk of disease vs. prevent or cure it. It would be very hard to find an oncologist worth their medical license that would routinely tell a patient that food was the direct cause of their cancer. Their overall diet may well have contributed to their risk, but that is not the same as attributing direct cause. Cancer is complex. Blaming a cancer diagnosis on intake of particular food also encourages the thinking that food can cure cancer. It cannot. Point blank. Nutrition is important in overall cancer recovery, but if you need chemotherapy/surgery and choose to eschew that for a juice cleanse, you are going to die. Sorry to be morbid but there is no beating around the bush with that one.” Dr. Joshua Wolrich
I am always someone who has loved my sweets. Could it have contributed to my risk, possibly, however I also have the BRCA mutation so I can’t say that it was the direct cause. I have focused on eating better since my diagnosis, but don’t want to take away all of my sweet treats. I am thrilled that I came across these two amazing companies that took enjoying sweets to a new level. I have been able to enjoy them while not worrying about all of the sugar and not healthy ingredients.
Jane Bakes is a cookie company using ingredients that are “all natural, low sugar, low carb, high fiber and whole wheat (gluten free flavors made with almond & coconut flours)”. Check out the site for flavors and how Jane Bakes began.

With the holiday season all around us, I am always wanting sweets. I’m sure I will still have a few of my favorites - chocolate mousse, creme brûlée and key lime pie - when I enjoy a meal out, but I love that I can enjoy these all natural and clean sweets from the comfort of my own home.
Any natural sweet treats that you enjoy during the holiday season? Please share as I’d love to try them!
