I’ve been reading “Better Together” by Jessica Walker over the past week after receiving my own copy. It has been beautiful reading about other warrior women and their cancer fight as well as caregivers whose voice doesn’t always get heard.

One of the quotes that caught my attention read “You’re a survivor the moment you decide to fight.” This resonated with me as I questioned having this title. This is something that should be discussed between more doctors and patients. “Once you learn your exact diagnosis, you will better understand your treatment options. This is your moment to own that “Survivor” title — one you never asked for but one you can claim from this moment forward.”
