The Next Chapter: Healing Writing Retreat (Saturday, Jan 30th )

99.00

Satruday, Jan 30th, 9a PT / 12p ET / 5p London (17 GMT) (4 hours, online - Zoom)

My body is… not to blame. My body is… always healing. My body is… foreign to me. My body is broken. My body is… mine.

What is your body to you these days? This one-day writing retreat is designed to help you enter into a dialogue with your body about what the two of you have been through as a result of a breast cancer diagnosis, specifically your chest.

This retreat will take place remotely and is designed help you feel whole again in your skin, whether you’ve already had surgery or it is still on the horizon. Together, via guided prompts and visualizations, we will explore your feelings & stories through writing. This retreat will be a beautiful and healing reprieve from your day-to-day with writing prompts, poetry, visualizations, and discussion — all in the comfort of your home — specifically designed for women facing or recovering from (no matter how recently) breast surgery. All types of surgery welcome: mastectomy, lumpectomy, reconstructive surgery, etc.

Facilitated by April Stearns with guest Life Coach and Reiki Instructor Tracy Ward. The goal of the retreat is to give you space and time to connect with and honor your body via writing and guided visualization. We will focus on exploring what your body and chest has provided you and endured, and also spend time acknowledging the changes. In this way, this retreat will help you find your way to a place of acceptance and love for your new body. It was once yours, then it became a medical body in the hands of your doctors. Now, this retreat will give you tools to find your home in your skin again, and also prepare for the next chapter in your breast cancer journey. You will do all of this in the comfort of your home, in the company of women who understand what you are going through.

Specifically designed for women diagnosed with breast cancer in their 20s, 30s, and 40s.

Limit 10 participants. Our 4-hour retreat will include refreshment breaks.

Bring a paper and pen or laptop for writing. Having a space to lie down for the guided visualization aspect is ideal but not necessary. No writing experience necessary.
